LaneStory live race view: eight lanes with swimmer positions, the leader at 1:16,37

The reason this exists

You drove two hours. You're holding a paper heat sheet. And you still don't know when your kid swims.

The programme runs early. Then late. The announcement is unintelligible over the noise of a tiled hall. You look up from your phone and the thirty seconds you came for are already over.

LaneStory reads the same timing system the officials use, and turns it into the two things you actually need: when to look up, and what just happened.

What you get

Built around the day itself

Not a training log. Six surfaces, each one for a moment that actually happens on a race day.

Race day

A countdown to the minute, not the morning

Most meet apps tell you the session starts at nine. LaneStory tells you your daughter is in heat 14, lane 4, at 09:52 — and warns you when the programme drifts.

  • Per-heat timing, not day-level guesswork
  • A leave home by time that accounts for warm-up
  • Quiet days show the next goal instead of an empty screen

Live

Watch the race, not a results table

Eight lanes, real positions, updating as they swim. You can see who turned first and how far back your swimmer is — while it is still happening.

  • Lane-by-lane positions with turn and leader markers
  • Split times against seed: ↘ 3,15 s means ahead of the entry time
  • Rotate for a full-screen view you can hold up at the poolside

Meets

The whole meet, before and after

Programme, start lists, heats and results — from the entry deadline through to the last relay. Search past seasons or browse what's coming.

  • Entry deadlines surfaced before they pass
  • Start lists and heat sheets without the paper
  • Results the moment the timing system publishes them

Performance

This is the story part

Every race a child swims becomes one point on a curve. Personal bests, season progress, FINA points and the milestones worth remembering.

  • Personal bests per event and course
  • Season progress: 6 PB, +2 FINA, biggest gain called out
  • Career milestones — first sub-30, first national-level swim
Performance screen with season progress and career milestones

Plan

How far to the next standard

Qualifying times are the quiet engine of a young swimmer's season. LaneStory measures every result against the nearest one and tells you what's left.

  • Distance to the next qualifying time, per event
  • Age-group championship rankings where the country runs one
  • Flags events that have gone stale — not swum in 10 months

Following

More than one child, and their teammates

Families rarely have exactly one swimmer. Follow several, plus the club and the teammates you always end up watching anyway.

  • Three tiers: family, spotlight, and just-watching
  • Race-day notifications per swimmer, mutable individually
  • Clubs and meets can be followed too

Ten countries

One app per country, not one app with a language menu

Every federation publishes different things. Rather than ship the lowest common denominator everywhere, each country's app declares what its own timing system can do — and the features appear or disappear accordingly.

Where the numbers come from

Official data, read the way an official reads it

Federation meet data

Results, start lists and live timing come from each country's official swimming federation systems — the same source the scoreboard uses. LaneStory does not enter times by hand and does not accept crowd-sourced corrections.

Live means live

Race-day data is never served from a cache. If the app shows a swimmer mid-race, it fetched that moment. When a source goes quiet, LaneStory says so rather than showing you a frozen heat as if it were current.

Your family stays on your phone

Who you follow, your nicknames, your goals and your photos are stored on the device. No account is required to use the app, and nothing about your children is sold or shared. Read the privacy policy.
